Famous investor decides to sell gold to save his son

This is a true story that happened in my town a couple of years ago. A famous investor"s son was kidnapped by a group of young criminals. They had been observing the family for two weeks when they finally abducted the 17-year old boy on his way home from school. The kidnappers then called the boy"s father and demanded 400,500 pounds as a ransom for the captive"s freedom. The father did not inform the police. He was afraid the men would hurt his son. Instead, he decided to sell gold bullion that he was keeping in a bank vault. The only people that knew about the situation were his wife and his fifteen-year-old daughter. The man had some problems selling his bullion bars and getting enough money. He begged the kidnappers to give him more time. The family lived in constant fear. One day, the daughter could not stand the pressure any more. She called the police and informed them about everything. The police managed to track the kidnappers very quickly. They were hiding in a small house in one of the nearby villages. The father did not have to sell gold. But what"s even more important, the son was soon safe and sound. If it hadn"t been for his younger sister"s reaction, his health and his life would have been at serious risk.
